Yummy look at all these fruits and vegetables! Though I try to eat as healthy as I can there are still some days that I cheat. ReplyDeleteYour page is so cute!! I love MyPyramid it is such a good resource. I think it is so important to make sure that you start off eating healthy right away. Teaching kids good eating habits will help them carry those tools with them for the rest of their life. Cutting out junk food slightly and being careful when making trips to fast food places will help decrease obesity as well as keep your heart healthy. America is becoming so overweight and it's getting incredibly alarming. We must take action now and direct our healthy food habits towards children. We must mold them into health nuts!! haha
ReplyDeleteI think it's great you are doing a blog on eating fruits and vegetables! So many individuals are living a sedentary lifestyle and they don't realize the impact it has on their overall wellbeing. I work at Cracker Barrel and a young boy handed me fruit stripe gum and said "It must be healthy, it has the word FRUIT in it." Clearly, the American population needs to have a re-evaluation on what is healthy and what is not. Again, I am looking forward to your blog and what is ahead. I plan to use MyPyramid.gov more often!
ReplyDeleteI wish more people would make the effort to eat, and make their kids eat, more fruits and veggies. Working in a produce part of a store, I see far too many people buying junk food rather than beneficial foods like these. It is possible to overcome the want of junk food for fruits and veggies (trust me, I am a Type 1 diabetic and the temptation and desire for sweets is high, but I choose fruits and veggies all the time). I actually saw an obese parent yell and cuss her overweight child out for wanting bananas to eat. It was so hard to bite my tongue. More people need to know these benefits.
ReplyDeleteI really like this topic. I also think it is very important to eat healthy foods instead of fatty ones. More people need to be aware of this and try to put healthy foods in their bodies, many people would like too however they tend to looks towards the fatty foods that taste good. The food pyramid is a great tool in determining what you should eat the amount of servings that is in a daily meal. This website is very handy I'm glad you pointed this out. There are so many benefits to eating well and makes the body a much happier one. I agree with your topic and am looking foward to more posts. I did a project on the new food guide pyramid for one of my other classes and it is a great tool along with all the other information the website gives!
